Founded in 1786 and known as the Queen of the Missions, Old Mission Santa Barbara sits with striking views of the Pacific and the Santa Ynez Mountains, making it one of the most recognizable and beloved landmarks on the California coast. It is one of only two California missions continuously operated by the Franciscans since its founding. This ornament is a wonderful way to bring a little piece of Santa Barbara home.
The ornament is crafted by our partner Matr Boomie, a fair trade company whose artisan partners have been handcrafting goods for generations. In the urban center of Old Delhi, artisans delicately bend, etch, bead and polish pieces from stones, glass, upcycled metal and wires, seeds, and other materials. Matr Boomie partners with women's groups, minorities, people with special needs, and isolated rural communities to empower artisans through dignified, sustainable employment - values that align closely with our own mission here at Santa Barbara Company.
