Nancy and Caroline have always been passionate about Santa Barbara and the wonderful products being produced here. In 2012, after many years working in accounting, she set out to create a business celebrating local makers and "all things Santa Barbara." Her daughter Caroline joined her soon after graduating from UC Berkeley and they officially launched The Santa Barbara Company in 2012 as an online shop, celebrating the products made in the Santa Barbara area. Locals were clamoring for a bricks and mortar location, they found and restored the bungalow on 214 E Victoria St to house the shop in April of 2013.
Today, the company is still run by Nancy and Caroline, who come from a long line of Santa Barbara locals. Five generations of the family have lived in Santa Barbara, including a great-great grandfather that was mayor here in the early 1920s.
